ABOUT US

New Nations Baptist Church

New Nations Baptist Church is a Christ-centered, Bible-believing church committed to worship, discipleship, and community outreach. Our journey began in 2001, birthed from the Fil-Asia Full Gospel Fellowship, with a passion to create a place where people from all nations can grow in faith and serve God together. We are affiliated with the New Estate Baptist Church and stand on a strong foundation of prayer, teaching, and love.

Our mission is to glorify God by making disciples, equipping believers, and reaching the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit, the authority of Scripture, and the importance of living out our faith in everyday life.

The objective and focus of NNBC is the Evangelism of expatriates in Nigeria who need an international congregation with which to fellowship. Likewise, since Nigeria is a nation of many nations, all nations within the country are also evangelized.

Hence, the church develops her goals thus

To Grow Up
Members are expected to be developed through daily bible devotions, in-depth bible studies, read the bible through (yearly), encouraging people to read Christian literatures etc.
To Grow Big
To grow number of believers among these nationals, they are to create a conducive worship service that is welcoming to all Christians, create a vibrant Sunday School and Strong Ministry Organizations.
To Grow Together
We are committed to growing together in faith, love, and service—strengthening one another through God’s Word, prayer, and Spirit-led fellowship in Christ.

Our Motto:

All Nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord, and shall glorify thy name (Ps 86;9 KJV)

Mission

To Bring people of all nations to Christ in one fellowship, develop them into Christlike maturity, equip them for service to God, the community and communicate God’s Word and love to all nations of the earth.

Vision

Believing that Christ died for all, no matter your Nationality, and Knowing the fellowshipping with other brethren is crucial to Christian growth and is therefore commanded in the scripture (Heb. 10 25), and are aware that foreingers often miss out on fellowship because of their absence from home, our vision is to provide a haven for people from other nations in Lagos, especially in the Ikeja Environ, to worship the Lord Jesus in Freedom, Truth and in Spirit (2 Peter 1:20-21 ; 2Tim, 3;16-17)

Core Values

The objective and focus of NNBC is the Evangelism of expatriates in Nigeria who need an international congregation with which to fellowship. Likewise, since Nigeria is a nation of many nations, all nations within the country are also evangelized.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

The Fil-Asia Full Gospel Fellowship (1980 – 2001).

In the Beginning, in 1980, four Filipino Families who came to sojourn in Nigeria founded a Bible study group called Fil – Asia Bible Study Group. These families were Doctor Perez, Deveyra, Ella, and the Omictins families. The principal intention of these people was to seek a means to develop themselves spiritually beyond what is available in a regular worship service. It was, however, not known to these Filipino families that they were working towards a compelling vision by God to establish a new House Fellowship. As it happened, these four Filipino Families were regular worshipers at Ikoyi Baptist Church, at Bell Avenue, Lagos. The Bible Study Group they founded later developed into a fellowship, which attracted more families.

In the early 1990s’, the fellowship approached the New Estate Baptist Church to help them sponsor a “Master Life” discipleship program for adult members of the group. Dn. and Mrs. Femi Popoola was seconded to the fellowship to teach the Master’s life program. After the training, the fellowship adopted the name Fil- Asia Full Gospel Fellowship to reflect her vision of a special affliction status with New Estate Baptist Church. The following people, at one time or the other, contributed meaningfully to the growth of the Fellowship. Some of these people are the then Pastor of New Estate Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Shola Aworinde, his associates visiting the fellowship regularly in Rev. Tom Takpatore, and Rev. Dele Ojewole (now Rev. Dr. Dele Oluwole).

Others include Dn. Philips, Dn. Oji Alala, Dn. Yinka Obalade, Dn. Deji Adenekan, Dns. Ogboli, Dns. Imoni (now Rev. Imoni), Dns. Queen and amiable Deacon Abraham Igho Odiase. These people’s devotion and dedication to God’s work helped so much to inspire and sustain the fellowship through the years. Before the fellowship applied for a Preaching station status at New Estate Baptist Church, the late Rev. Emmanuel Nunu was assigned by New Estate Baptist Church as Pastor of Fil –Asia Full Gospel Fellowship, at the request of the Fellowship.

Fellowship Meeting Centers

Aside from the different homes of members, occasionally used on rotation as venues for fellowship activities and worship services, the Fil-Asia fellowship sometimes rented St. Savior’s School Auditorium at Alexander Street, Ikoyi, on Sunday afternoon. When the School authority disallowed the School auditorium for the fellowship activities, the fellowship was temporarily relocated to Omictin’s family flat in Apapa before renting an apartment at Jubril Martins Street, Surulere. Finally, the fellowship moved to her final destination before becoming a Church at no. 59B Oduduwa Crescent, GRA, Ikeja due to space problem.

The Birth of New Nations Baptist Church

Our Foundation

The Fil – Asia Full Gospel Fellowship became affiliated with New Estate Baptist Church, Adisa Bashua Street, Surulere, in 1990. It was in 2001 that the fellowship requested the status of a preaching station. Therefore, on 2nd December 2001, the leadership of New Estate Baptist Church, under the auspices of the then Deaconate being led by Deacon Ojinta Ojialala, paved the way for the beginning of a new Church called New Nations Baptist Church. Dn. Abraham Odiase was posted to the newly born Church to lead the Church.

Membership at Inception

The inception of The New Nations Baptist Church was historic. While some members of the Fil – Asia Full Gospel Fellowship may be the architect of its beginning, some members of New Estate Baptist Church who are living around Maryland and the Ikeja axis were also drafted to become members of the Church. The coming of New Estate Baptist Church members made the beginning of the Church a blessing from above, for some of these members, together with the leadership of the Fil Asia leadership, made a strong starting. Families from Fil Asia Fellowship that formed “The New Nations Baptist Church” include the following. Mr. & Mrs. Maximo Omictin, Mr. & Mrs. Daniel-Flora Akochi Adole, Mr. Joel Andrade, Mrs. Jackie Briones, Mr. & Mrs. Gacrama, Mr. Sunny Ahuchaogu, Bro. Franklin Ogbeide, Bro. Bisi Oyinloye, Mr. & Mrs. Boustani, The Adedokuns Children, Sisters Bisola Sekoni, Vivian Abiagom, Edith Akujaobi, etc. These are just a few that were highly committed.

Also, New Estate Baptist members that formed New Nations Baptist Church include the following.  Engineer & Mrs. Kayode Oluwole, Mrs. Funmi Ande, Mr. & Mrs. Sunny Udemba, Mrs. Merit Ofulue, Dr. & Mrs. Eyesan, Mr. & Mrs. Kayode Atanda, Engineer & Mrs. Femi Oluwole, Dr. Aruma  Disu, and Sister Grace Amusat OlaJesu.

The Church Leadership

Afore the advent of New Nations Baptist Church, the Fil Asia Full Gospel Fellowship has its leadership being steered by the late Bro. Maximo Omictin, a dedicated Christian to the core. Also, two home cells from New Estate Baptist Church came to form the Church. It is worth noting that these home fellowships were seconded to start the new Church from New Estate. These are Ikeja, Anthony, Ilupeju, and Maryland home cells. However, only two people in persons of Dr. Elizabeth Aruma Disu and her family and Sister Grace OlaJesu came along to join the Church from the Ikeja home fellowship. Also, seven families from Maryland home cells came to join New Nations Baptist Church.

These families are Kayode Oluwole’s, Femi Oluwole’s, Atanda’s, Udemba’s, Ofulue’s, Ande’s, and Eyesan’s. Others decided to stay glued to New Estate Baptist Church for reasons best known to them. To God be the glory!  It was all these people that Deacon Abraham Odiase, the Church leader made tapped on to become Church workers. However, he chose six people to become the think-tank for the Church. This group of people formed what is called the “Pulpit Committee.”

The pulpit committee members include the late Bro. Max Omictin, who doubled up as assistant Church leader and Assistant Financial Secretary of the Church. Bro. Sunny Udemba (now Pastor Udemba), who was the pioneer Church Secretary, Late Bro. Daniel Akochi Adole (Treasurer), Sister Yinka Oluwole ( Women Missionary Society President/ Beautification Leader), Sister Olufunmilayo Ande (Sunday School Superintendent), and Bro Joel Andrade (Utility Chairman). There were other pioneers and dedicated leaders in the Church. These include Dr. Samuel Uwale Eyesan (now Prof. Eyesan), the Men Missionary Union President. Mr. Kayode Atanda was the building committee, Chairman. Finance Committee Chairman was Bro. Kayode Oluwole, Mrs. Maryann Udemba (now Pastor Mary Udemba) as the Music leader, Sister Folake Atanda (Ushering), late Sister Eniola Eyesan (Prayer Ministry), Sister Funmi Adedokun (Children Church), Bro. Frank Ogbeide (Youth Ministry), etc.
