Mr. Guy Omene wins the MMU “Father of the Year” Award 2025

One major highlight of the Father’s Day service was the presentation of the “Father of the Year” award. The Men’s Missionary Union of New Nations Baptist Church unanimously elected Mr. Guy Omene as the Father of the Year for 2025. His dedication to God, passion for ministry, and consistent financial support of the mission group are a testament to his love for both God and family.

The baton was passed by the outgoing Father of the Year, Mr. Tope Akinola, and Mr. Omene was officially crowned by our former President, Mr. Akin Akinboboye. We heartily congratulate Mr. Omene and his lovely wife, and we wish them a joyful and fulfilling year ahead.

We were also richly blessed by the exhortation delivered by Pastor Sunny Udemba, our newly graduated pastor from the Baptist Theological Seminary. He shared inspiring examples of godly fatherhood, drawing wisdom from biblical figures and highlighting the traits of responsible fathers.

He summarized his message with the following key points:

Message Summary: God’s Call to Fatherhood

Text: Genesis 18:19 (NLT)

Pastor Sunny Udemba shared a timely and convicting message titled “God’s Call to Fatherhood,” emphasizing that fatherhood is not merely a biological role but a divine calling, sacred stewardship, and profound privilege.

He explored three foundational truths about fatherhood:

  1. Fatherhood is a Call – to lead with faith, love, and obedience.
  2. Fatherhood is Stewardship – a God-given responsibility to shape lives and influence generations.
  3. Fatherhood is a Privilege – a sacred opportunity to honor God through family leadership.

Biblical Lessons from Four Fathers:

  • Abraham – A faithful father who obeyed God and led his family spiritually, despite his flaws.
  • Joseph – A humble, obedient, and protective earthly father to Jesus.
  • Eli – A cautionary example of passive parenting and lack of discipline.
  • Jesse – A reminder that fathers must not overlook the unique potential in each child.

Reflection Questions for Fathers:

  • Whose voice are you following—God’s or the culture’s?
  • What legacy are you building?
  • What do your children see in you?
  • Are you aligned with God’s plan for your family?

Final Challenge:

God has singled out fathers to lead their families in righteousness. It’s time to rise to the call—break generational cycles, walk with God, and leave a legacy of faith.
