It was a beautiful and heartwarming occasion on Sunday, August 2, 2026, as family, friends, colleagues, and members of New Nations Baptist Church, Maryland, Ikeja, gathered to celebrate the remarkable life of Professor Elizabeth Aroma Disu on the occasion of her 70th birthday.
The thanksgiving celebration, held in the church auditorium, was filled with joy, gratitude, worship, and heartfelt tributes. Professor Disu was accompanied by her loving husband, Engr. Disu, and their four children—Tosin, Oreoluwa, Tolulope, and Opeyemi—whose presence made the occasion even more memorable.
Joining the celebration were family members, friends, well-wishers, professional associates, members of the AMCH community, and the New Nations Baptist Church family, all of whom came together to honour a woman whose life has been defined by excellence, compassion, and faithful service.
The celebration came just a few weeks after Professor Disu delivered her historic Inaugural Lecture at Lagos State University (LASU)—another significant milestone in an illustrious academic and professional career. A distinguished Professor of Paediatrics, Professor Disu has made invaluable contributions to medicine, education, and humanity, touching countless lives through her knowledge, mentorship, and selfless service.
Throughout the celebration, speaker after speaker testified to her kindness, humility, gracious spirit, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Her influence extends far beyond the classroom and the hospital, impacting both the young and the old in profound ways. Indeed, Professor Disu exemplifies the virtues of the godly woman described in Scripture—one whose value is “far above rubies” (Proverbs 31:10).
It was especially delightful to witness her radiant smile as she listened to touching testimonies, laughed with loved ones, and lifted her heart in sincere worship and thanksgiving. With joyful dancing and grateful praise, she expressed her appreciation to God for His faithfulness over seven fruitful decades.
As a church family, we celebrate Professor Elizabeth Aroma Disu for a life well lived and a legacy that continues to inspire many. We thank God for preserving her, blessing her, and using her as a vessel of blessing to countless lives.
As she enters a new season and retires from active service, we pray that the Lord will grant her many more fruitful years in excellent health, abundant peace, renewed strength, and overflowing joy. May her latter years be even more impactful than the former.
